Product Name: JAWS

Version: Any

Category: Firefox

Question:
Is there a way to use the JAWS Cursor in Firefox?

Answer:
You can use the JAWS Cursor in Firefox after turning off Firefox's hardware
acceleration setting.

1. In Firefox, press ALT+T to open the Tools Menu and then choose Options.

2. From the Advanced options, choose the General tab.

3. Press TAB to move to the Use Hardware Acceleration when Available
checkbox. Press the SPACEBAR to clear it, then press ENTER to close the
dialog box.

Now for the strange garbled words. I don't know why. the language preference
is set to English.

Mario,

I rarely use the JAWS cursor with Firefox. I just tried, and I find it
doesn't work on my system, either. The result is different, however. Instead
of JAWS verbalizing the cursor keys, I can get it to speak only one line of
any screen. Firefox remains completely navigable with the PC cursor.

I recall reading somewhere, probably on this list, a technical explanation
for this development with the Internet and browsers. I didn't keep the item
and I lack the technological sophistication to understand it. However, it
does seem that the JAWS cursor has limits.

I'm using FF 28, Win7 and JAWS 15.0.7023 (not the most current release).

Subject: JAWS and Firefox frustration

hi Listers, I recently reinstall Firefox, which I used the Ninite installer.
but now I'm unable to use the JAWSCursor to review the screen. after routing
JAWS to PC, JAWS just repeats "blank" with whatever I press, cursor keys,
page down/up, tab/shift+tab, etc. I'm not sure if there's a setting to
enable/disable. Uninstalling/reinstalling doesn't help, the problem remains.
I'm using JAWS 14 on Windows 7.
