Hmm!

Dumb question, probably not, but I wonder if it's gotta do with it being 32 vs. 64 bit.

I just got off the line with Dennis from tech support, and he even tandommed into my system. He looked around and saw absolutely nothing. We are noticing when hitting insert+F10 to open the jaws apps list, there are about 2 or 3 entries which jfw is not focussing on which say something to the effect of Microsoft Windows 8 operating system. He thinks these are alerts coming up on the screen or which may be down in the system tray area not being read. Alt+tab won't get me to them. I told him that I had enough vision to see the screen well enough to tell that there absolutely is *no!* alert whatsoever coming up on the screen. There isn't even an icon in the taskbar nor in the notification area. I had my mother look who last eye exam was told to have 20 20 vision, literally, and she, neither saw any alerts of any type. We went into ms config and disabled all startup items that were non microsoft related in the 3rd party services. We also looked in just the regular task manager and disabled anything in there that looked suspicious. Nothing worked. We even went and made sure to give full access permission to the program files\freedomscientific folder and all inherritted subfolders. Yes, I am running jfw as an administrator. Yes, I am logged in as an administrator, and yes, U A C is disabled.

I totally give up! I don't know what else to do to convince FS that something weird's going on. I even tried this on a friend's laptop who also is running windows 8. I just wanted to see if I could reproduce the problem. I most definitely did. Even on their! system, jfw wouldn't start after the logon.

Before you ask, I'm using Microsoft Bit Defender for my virus scanner, and yes, I did try disabling it with no effect. I'm not so much irritated that I can't get this to work, as much as I'm pissed that FS undoubtedly thinks I'm stupid! They make it sound like I don't have the slightest idea what I'm doing. When I told Dennis all I'd done once he started verbally flying off things to try, he literally stopped dead in his tracks, and literally right in the headset goes... D!*** It's almost like they all think I'm dumb, or something. I mean, come on! It's not like I started using the pc two hours ago and never've seen one before then! Judice Priest!

Chris.
