Dan: I actually have considered NVDA as another alternative, so I appreciate this suggestion.
Since it is also free, I may give it a try as well, perhaps on a computer that I don't use too frequently at least for the time being. Subject: RE: Jaws To Window Eyes Tom, As a general rule, there is no conflict between screen readers. They merely reside in the computer. Also, after years of working with various screen readers, might I suggest NVDA. Unfortunately eloquence cannot be used with it, but the Microsoft voices aren't too bad. I have tried several times over the years to really get into window eyes, including the latest version with MS Office. I've found its control panel to be confusing. Also, I find it to be a little clunky on the web. That's just my two cents based on experience. Others here may feel differently. In an attempt to have an alternative to Jaws, I'm seriously considering putting Window Eyes on at least one computer here. However, I have heard from several sources that having two screen readers on the same computer can create real issues, if things are not done properly. Also, can I configure Window Eyes to work with Elloquence, which is what Jaws currently uses? Finally, I'd like to know how much of a learning curve is going to be involved with learning to use Window Eyes, especially since I have been a Jaws user for about the last 20 years. My time to learn a new speech screen reader is limited, although I will certainly try to do so if it would be in my best interest. If this post is considered to be "off topic" for this list, I want to apologize in advance to the moderator and other list members. I simply don't know where else to ask this question, given the various e-mail lists to which I belong.
