I haven't found a way to retain .PDF tables when converting to Word. I have tried saving, but the only option I have is save-to-text. I have tried printing to the Freedom Import Printer, and although the text is retained pretty well the formatting is lost. I have sent files to
[email protected],
and they come back in the right order, but without actual formatting, as .txt files.

There are programs to convert .pdf's to Word, but I haven't seen table retention work. ever.
when you find something, please let us all know.

Thanks,

Ann

Bruce,

First, your message posted this time. It hasn't been posted before, so something went wrong the first time.

Second, your message is written very clearly, for which I'm sure everyone thanks you. That said, in my experience, it's best to post each question separately.

Third, in response to your specific questions, I have only two suggestions. Others with more experience of Excel will have more useful tips to offer. Note that a shorthand developed on this list is to say "JAWS key" instead of insert key (for a keyboard layout) and caps lock (for a laptop layout).

On your point 1, check your verbosity level. If you have it set to "beginner," which I doubt, change it to "intermediate." If you have it at "intermediate," try "advanced" and see if that eliminates needless verbiage without suppressing needed information.

On your point 4, I wonder if converting a PDF file to Word (assuming you have Word) would enable you to extract a table. I've never tried it, so it's a shot in the dark.

Subject: excel 2010 monitoring cells

Hello list,

I am newly subscribed. I am an intermediate JAWS user. That is, I use it
very well, but I do not script or program in any way.

I sent this message previously, but am unsure if it made it to the list.

Here are my questions:

1. When I hit control shift m in excel 2010 I hear the cell
reference first, which is distracting. Is there a way to stop the cell
reference from showing up in the list of monitored cells?

2. For some reason, on my laptop, I haven't tried anywhere else, when
I press shift+caps+2 it doesn't do anything to set that monitored cell;
whereas all the other numbers 1, 3, 4. do.

3. Has anyone successfully used the iPhone app hippo remote or
something like it with JAWS to read documents? Whenever I scroll or type
with this wireless option, JAWS doesn't read even though the cursor is
moving/typing.

4. Anyone know of a way to extract tables using JAWS from PDF files
without the expense of adobe professional?

I know these are a lot of questions, any bit of help on any of these is
appreciated.

Thanks,

Bruce
