Just install them in paral. they can peacefully coexist.

If you are able to update from JAWS 15 to JAWS 16 now, you will be able to
do it later. Going back to 15, if you choose to do this, will not affect
your ability to update back to JAWS 16, whenever you decide to do this.

I am tempted to go back to 15, but am worried that I might lose my JAWS 16

It's not weird at all. There are those of us who still use Windows XP, and
JAWS16 will not work with Windows XP. So for those who cannot migrate to the
latest version, they are trying to fix all the problems in JAWS15, so that
Windows XP users will have a relatively stable version to use until they
upgrade to a newer Windows version.
