Hi Crystal, I use Gmail and love it. In the past I used my Internet Service providers email account, but, every time I switched providers, I’d then need to change my email address on many different list and newsletters I was subscribed to, as well as needing to send out my new email address to all my friends and family. With my Gmail account I can switch providers and not have to do anything with my email.
If you set your account up as an IMAP account, you also don’t need to worry if you want to wipe out your hard drive and re-[install Windows, or purchase a new computer. All you do is set up your Gmail account in whatever email program you use, and all your email will be there as it was. I’m not sure how well Windows Live works with a Gmail account. I’ve never had much luck using Windows Live with Jaws. I prefer to use Outlook on my Windows machine and Apple Mail on my Mac. In addition, if you have an iPhone, you can set up your Gmail account on your iPhone and all your email is synced nicely… if you delete an email on your iPhone it is deleted on your computer and vice versa. Using Gmail’s web interface can be a bit challenging at first, but once you get used to it, it’s actually quite nice too, if you ever need to use it.
