If you're using the latest version of JAWS, that's probably due to the fact that JAWS stops working, and then restarts itself. It happens to me all the time. I understand the reasoning behind it, but you still don't have speech during that minute or so. You're wondering if your computer has frozen or what's going on. FS built that into JAWS 15 and 16. In 15, you can control when JAWS restarts. In version 16, it restarts for you.
