Thanks, Michael. I now have run HJ pad on my desktop and in my start menu.
Will give it a try when I get the chance here. Use first letter navigation to find the version you're using. For example; press the letter, J, until you have Jaws 15 or 16 highlighted or, whatever version of Jaws you happen to be using. With the Jaws version of choice highligheted press enter or right arrow. Arrow up to, Run HJ Pad, & press enter to open. You can also open the context menu while on Run HJ Pad with the applications key or Shift + F10. Go to, Send To, press enter, arrow down to, Desktop create shortcut, & press enter to make opening HJ Pad more accessible from the desktop. Take care. I use these with students on a regular basis and was wondering where they were in 8.1. So, I went looking for it. Typing HJPad or even just HJ into the search box didn't work. It's basically a souped up Word pad. -----Original Message----- From: Jfw [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Tom Behler via Jfw Sent: Tuesday, May 12, 2015 7:07 AM To: 'The Jaws for Windows support list.' I thought it was a simple text editor, which I typically do via Notepad in Microsoft. Am I missing something? Cc: Londa Peterson Subject: HJPad I recently saw that someone was wanting to find HJPad and couldn't do so. In Windows 7, this is fairly easy, but not so in Windows 8.1. I got curious, so I started looking around. I finally found it, and here's how I did it. 1. Press the Windows key to get to the start screen if you aren't already there. 2. Tab once. You will land on a button that says apps. 3. Press the space bar to activate this button. 4. You will then be presented with a very long list of everything that is on your computer. Type jaws. It will automatically go into the search box. 5. Start arrowing down. The item you want is called "utilities JAWS 16." I assume if you're using a different version number you would find the same thing with the number of your JAWS version. I only have 16 on the particular machine I tested on. 6. Press enter on this item, and you will find all of the things you used to find in the JAWS program group in all programs on older versions of Windows. Hope this helps someone out. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
