Not a bad little processor. I'd compare it to WordPad. I wouldn't write for
publication, but I always have it around. I remember a time I had to choose
between my industrial-strength processor and Edlin, just about the most
ridiculous excuse for a text editor (line editor to be exact) ever devised by a
sadistic mind.

Thanks for the clarification on H J pad, Ted.

I'm going to play around with it here with I get the time, to see how it might
be used in my current situation.

It's that, but FS also conceived of it as a training tool. Some JAWS training
exercises are built around it.

Please forgive this question, but what exactly is HJ pad, and what is its
purpose?

I thought it was a simple text editor, which I typically do via Notepad in
Microsoft.

Am I missing something?

Keith,

I suggest you reinstall JAWS. Sounds like something was corrupted or
interrupted.

I followed this path in Windows Explorer and the HJPad.exe was not there.

Keith,

This is not part of Win 7, it is part of JAWS. Here's the location for
JAWS16 on a Win 7 installation:

C:\Program Files\Freedom Scientific\JAWS\16.0\HJPAD.EXE

I give up. Where is it in Windows 7? I can't find it. Keith

I recently saw that someone was wanting to find HJPad and couldn't do so. In
Windows 7, this is fairly easy, but not so in Windows 8.1. I got curious, so I
started looking around. I finally found it, and here's how I did it.

1. Press the Windows key to get to the start screen if you aren't
already there.

2. Tab once. You will land on a button that says apps.

3. Press the space bar to activate this button.

4. You will then be presented with a very long list of everything that
is on your computer. Type jaws. It will automatically go into the search box.

5. Start arrowing down. The item you want is called "utilities JAWS
16." I assume if you're using a different version number you would find the
same thing with the number of your JAWS version. I only have 16 on the
particular machine I tested on.

6. Press enter on this item, and you will find all of the things you
used to find in the JAWS program group in all programs on older versions of
Windows.

Hope this helps someone out.
