Hi Rick,

Another thought crossed my mind. Many web forms require information to be
entered in a specific way, for example, no dashes or spaces in the credit card
number, the expiry date in a certain format etc. If the info in any field is
not entered correctly, when you press the “Save” button an error message will
pop up explaining where and what the error is. If the page is coded with
accessibility in mind, the focus will be placed in this popup, and Jaws will
read it to you. Many times, however, the message pops up when you press save,
but Jaws doesn’t read the message, so you have no idea what is going on.

The only way I find to remedy this is to go to the top of the page and read the
entire page looking for an error message. Sometimes it’s at the top of the
page, and other times it’s directly following the field where the error is
located.

Good luck!

Russell
