Brad:

Well, I think I might try avast for a while here, once I get my text-entry
issue resolved with the home Windows 7 PC.

I am similar to you in that I do not like the constant AVG update and new
version notification announcements. They seem to get in the way of Jaws.
Also, I am convinced that the latest AVG update was one of the contributing
factors that caused my Windows 7 PC to slow down to almost a complete hault
when accessing Outlook e-mail.

As I said, though, I am waiting until my Jaws issue gets resolved here. FS
tech support has escalated my issue to a higher level of priority, and I'm
waiting for John Carson from FS to get back to me on nexxt steps.

Fortunately, I have this Windows 7 work laptop to use in the meantime.

I have mixed feelings about Avast. I've had good luck with it catching
problem files, but with JAWS it's not the most accessible tool I know. I
actually had better luck with AVG on the accessibility front, but I hated
being constantly nagged to upgrade or switch versions. Avast is querky at
best when it comes to accessibility, but it has served me well, and what I
like about it is that you can just sort of leave it alone. At least, that's
been the case for me.
