Hi Adrian, Yes, I use the, Jaws key + 4, keystroke quite often. I also have notes on both ansi & ascii characters, & play around with them from time to time, mainly out of extreme boredom. LOL LOL
I found it interesting that typing, 1,6,3, produced 1 thing & typing, 0,1,6,3, produced another. I should know better because those are 2 totally different numbers when using ansi / ascii code. What I don't know is, when you press the NumPad 5 key 3 times on a symbol, if Jaws is giving you ansi or ascii code numbers. Take care. Mike This email was sent from my, iBarstool. Northstar tells listers what to do when symbols aren't readily available from other sources. But the JAWS key+4 partial symbols list is a nice contribution from FS. There you can find, for example, em-dash and en-dash, ellipses, and numerous accented letters. Oh, and the pounds sterling sign. -----Original Message----- From: Jfw [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Michael B. via Jfw Sent: Sunday, July 19, 2015 12:03 AM To: The Jaws for Windows support list. Subject: Re: Pound Sign in Jaws Hi Adrian & Northstar, I'm not saying this to argue the ansi or ascii value of the sterling pounds number, but when I press the, NumPad 5 key, 3 times quickly on the sterling pounds symbol, it gives me a unicode number of 163. But yet, if I turn the numpad on, hold down the Alt key, press 1, 6, 3, turn the numpad off, I get, ú. doing what Norstar suggests & typing, 1, 5, 6 does give me the, £, symbol. Whoops, I just tried typing, 0,1,6,3, & did get the, £, symbol. Damn, this ansi / ascii stuff can get confusing! LOL LOL Take care. Mike This email was sent from my, iBarstool. I copied the symbol into my JAWS dictionary and spelled out pound for my "replacement word." -----Original Message----- From: Jfw [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of northstar1950--- via Jfw Sent: Saturday, July 18, 2015 7:55 PM To: The Jaws for Windows support list.
