Hi Adrian & Northstar,
I'm not saying this to argue the ansi or ascii value of the sterling pounds
number, but when I press the, NumPad 5 key, 3 times quickly on the sterling
pounds symbol, it gives me a unicode number of 163. But yet, if I turn the
numpad on, hold down the Alt key, press 1, 6, 3, turn the numpad off, I get,
ú. doing what Norstar suggests & typing, 1, 5, 6 does give me the, £,
symbol. Whoops, I just tried typing, 0,1,6,3, & did get the, £, symbol.
Damn, this ansi / ascii stuff can get confusing! LOL LOL

Actually, you can make JAWS verbalize pound sterling on an American
keyboard. I copied the symbol into my JAWS dictionary and spelled out pound
for my "replacement word."

hmmm, turn numlock and hold your alt key down and
on the numpad while holding the alt key down
enter 156 and you when you release the alt key
you should have the sterling pound sign like this: £
of course, jaws will not say anything but the symbol is there.
