Maybe your com port is disable in the bios setup. When I first got my
Braille Lite 40 I had the same problem.   Fortunately, my cousin who is
very good in computers got into the Bios setup of my computer and enabled
my comport 2  where  the Braille Lite was connected.  The Braille Lite
worked fine ever since then.
