Here a point to be noted.. If tribals are assumed to be religion less, both christian missionaries and VHP has right to propagate & the tribal has the right to choose.
In this context, 'homecoming' may be seen as a converting to a native religion (from Christianity ) of this country as opposed to Abraramic religions. It may be noted that RSS/VHP doesn't oppose any one when he converts to Buddhism/Sikh as they are our native religions. As far as my understanding the Legal status of Sc/ST are Hindu as they are eligible for reservation. They do idol worshipping of their tribal gods and involved in religious activities. In Ramayana/Mahabharata , there are instances when Lord Ram ate from a tribal. So, if at all a tribal can live with no religion, let us not object. But, when he is lured by missionaries because of his gullible nature, Sangh people should bring them to any of our home religion. We can live without religion, but religion teaches us to become more disciplined. Some may argue, why should we prioritize Hinduism over Abharamic religions ? - If one becomes a Christian, there are chances that he becomes a pastor and like an AMWAY distributor, will look at every Hindu as a target of conversion. - If one becomes a Muslim, there are chances that he gets emotional about Global Muslims [ Palestein/Iraq/Taliban] and become a terrorist; Islam has a strong global brotherhood - If he becomes a Hindu, there are no such fears because of Telugu Hindu, Tamil Hindu, Odia Hindu, Bengali Hindu , Punjabi Hindu etc. - the most disintegrated people are Hindus and there is no such fear.
