I think it'll help a lot to finally have a 1.0 production release. As for books and such, if 2.0 goes well I'll look into writing a book on JiBX myself. I'm hoping the 2.0 release cycle will be much faster than 1.0 has been. This seems a reasonable expectation because the largest change in 2.0 will be the rewrite of the code generation process. The binding definition model (which I've backported to 1.0) should also give a much better hook for extending JiBX, and I'm hoping some other developers can get involved in extensions for 2.0.

One possibility I think would offer a big boost to the framework would be to incorporate a modified version of the Castor code generation from schema. Castor has solid code generation support, and it looks like it'd be easy to trim out the Castor-specific hooks in the code generation. That way all that would need to be added is the generation of a binding definition for the constructed classes. The Xsd2Jibx experience has somewhat soured me on the idea of developing our own package for code generation.

As far as donating it goes, I originally thought in terms of donating the project to Apache when I started it. However, I haven't been very impressed by what I've seen lately in the quality of work coming out of Apache, so I'll keep it independent for now (especially since I'll probably be ditching the Apache BCEL bytecode framework and converting to the ObjectWeb ASM one for 2.0).

Donating it to jakarta might be an option.

Hi,

JiBX is a very promising xml-java data binding
framework. Are there
any books entirely dedicated to JiBX. Also, I think
it needs more
publicity and more forums on various java mailing
lists like JGuru,
JavaWorld, JavaRanch, DevShed etc. etc.

Any ideas ppl ?

Thanks & Regards,
Kumar.
