After commenting out the plugin from config.yml, the CSS and JS are loaded fine:

how do I make it work again with the compressed CS and JS?

I'm still having troubles with running the current HEAD under FastCGI.
Now CSS and JS is not delivered. "jifty server" delivers them fine, but with
FastCGI I get the following:
