This is a PoC PR to kick off discussion around Kafka Streams' behavior for KIP-909. From my understanding of the KIP and PR [#21080](https://github.com/apache/kafka/pull/21080), the core retry mechanism is already fully implemented at the client library level. As noted in this [comment](https://github.com/apache/kafka/pull/23475#discussion_r4029964676), one idea was to make Kafka Streams "smarter" by attempting to re-create the client on failure. However, that seems to go against the spirit of the KIP: if an error is non-transient, we should fail fast to get the user's attention (e.g., misconfigured DNS or invalid bootstrap.servers). IMO, the scope of this PR should simply be to: 1. Remove the forced override (from [#23364](https://github.com/apache/kafka/pull/23364)) so we honor user configuration. 2. Make Kafka Streams aware of `BootstrapResolutionException` (BRE)—e.g., failing fast instead of retrying in loops (like during changelog offset restoration) and avoiding futile thread re-creations. This PR is intentionally kept minimal without tests for now, just to get early feedback and align on the expected behavior. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
