Validation on Apache Kafka trunk `8e46092edac3e837972ee13b40dcc149e7113ae7`
(4.5.0-SNAPSHOT), October 20, 2026, using Java 17:
- With production code unchanged and only the new regression added,
`testFetchOffsetByTimestampContinuesAfterEmptyEligibleSegment` fails: expected
the record at offset 2, received an empty result.
- With the fix applied, the same regression passes.
- All 243 tests in `UnifiedLogTest` (208) and `LogSegmentTest` (35) pass,
with zero skipped tests and retries disabled.
- `storage:spotlessCheck`, `storage:checkstyleMain`,
`storage:checkstyleTest`, and `storage:spotbugsMain` pass.
The submitted branch was rebased onto that exact trunk revision and its
tracked files were verified identical to the passing validation worktree.
