No, I would either remove the config {{built.in.metrics.version}} completely or
only the config value {{0.10.0-2.4}}. The metrics should only be exposed as
described in KIP-444.
The second step only referred to the work that would be needed to clean up dead
code that would not be executed anymore since config {{0.10.0-2.4}} cannot be
set anymore.
