After poking around a bit I found the WAV files responsible for the annoying startup and shutdown sounds and eliminated them. I hate all that pointless audible feedback. Now the only noise my Jive makes is the "chirrup" to confirm it's docked correctly. This device is just so wonderfully customisable.
