I understand that the Receiver lacks an IR/headphone jack, so IR
Blaster is only good for SB2/SB3/Transporter users.
If you want the amp power synced with the SBR, then BottleRocket might
be a good fit -- though I need to add an "idle" setting for the SBRs,
as the current plan for SBRs is that they're never actually "off", but
merely Playing, Paused, or Stopped. BottleRocket needs a setting for
how many minutes of idle (Stopped/Paused) time to allow before turning
off the amp. This should also benefit folks like me who tend to have
Repeat turned off and leave Squeezeboxes on but silent after leaving
the room.
The latest BottleRocket alpha for SC7 includes Controller menus (under
Home -> Extras) that would allow you to switch the amp's appliance
module on or off independent of any Squeezebox -- and control other
X-10 or Insteon lamps or appliances, too.
I should note that I prefer IR Blaster. Certainly sending an IR code to
a device is nicer than using an X-10 or Insteon "appliance" module to
effectively unplug the amp from the AC mains. And many amps should be
efficient enough that there's no difference between
"off"-and-looking-for-IR and on-but-no-signal -- my Sonic Impact T-Amp
uses as little power when on but getting no analog feed from the
Squeezebox as any of my IR-enabled gear does when "off" but looking for
IR commands. I only use BottleRocket or IR Blaster where there's
significant power draw by the amp, or other factors like wanting the
amp's lights to go dark.
