Sure, that might be a justification, if only of why you're director of engineering and not interface design ;)
I guess a good question to ask here, is are you trying to make consumer electronics, or are you just making toys for geeks? I'm typing this from a room (in my home) with 5 PC's in it, so I'm not averse to keyboards and the location of their backspace keys :) I'll leave the discussion of how the location of the PLUS key and the escape key clearly make the choice sane as an exercise for the reader... My TiVo, which is by far the best piece of consumer electronics I've ever bought, despite being nearly 6 years old now, and here in the UK still stuck on series 1, does the same as my expections (possibly colouring them, admittedly) - fast forward is a space, rewind is delete when using their text entry interface. I've never read the tivo manual, but I guess that right first time, every time, on the odd occasions I need to know it. As I said, I've never used a physical controller, so it might be absolutely fine in reality, just sounds a bit counter intuitive to the way _my_ mind works. So seriously - is it that way round for a reason? Or did it just get coded that way at some point, and people get used to it? -- Wonk ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Wonk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=14761 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=42448 _______________________________________________ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/jive
