I just tried to switch over to the new model controller (with the improved antenna) and am having a lot of wireless problems with it. Out of the box it wouldn't see my network (although the SSID is being broadcast and the signal strength in the area is fine). I manually entered the SSID and key and it connected (eventually). Then I was able to do a firmware update to the latest (r1829). After that however I am totally unable to connect to the network. The icon showed red and I couldn't get the player menu to show anything, I eventually told it to forget the network and tried reconnecting again and it won't connect at all.
Just to prove that it's not an external issue I switched back to the original controller (with the same firmware) and it worked fine right away.
