My beta Receiver and Controller arrived today. Many thanks to Slim Devices for sending it. Unfortunately I'm going away for a skiing trip on Saturday morning, so the timing couldn't have been worse! But for what it's worth, here ar some initial impressions.
1. The new Controller. Works fine. However, I compared the reported SNR with the old and new controllers, and I see virtually no difference. Isn't the new antenna supposed to be significantly better? 2. Receiver. The shipping letter said that it wouldn't work with a SqueezeCenter build from before 5th Feb, but since my wife was listening to the Transporter and I didn't want to disturb her, I tried it with build 17150 anyway, which I believe is from 4th Feb, and it seems to be working fine. Initial connection seemed very sluggish, especially since it is connected via wired Ethernet. The first attempt to find a music source failed, and displayed an error message along the lines of "are you sure you are within range of your wireless network". Since I had just told it to connect via Ethernet, this might be considered a bit confusing. (I was intending to write it down verbatim, but the second attempt was successful). Perhaps these trivial issues might not have arisen had I followed the instructions and installed an up-to-date SqueezeCenter. One last comment about the Receiver. The lack of a headphone output is a serious issue for me, as I use Felix's PowerSwitch plugin to turn on powered speakers with both the Transporter and SB2. Being unable to do this with the Receiver is quite irritating. That's it for now. More when I get back from skiing - which is of course a far more important activity than fiddling around with music players. -- cliveb Transporter -> ATC SCM100A ------------------------------------------------------------------------ cliveb's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=348 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43189 _______________________________________________ jive mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/jive
