I've just set up a new controller and receiver. It all went pretty smoothly out of the box. The receiver is now connected to my wireless network and the remote is upgrading its firmware, having first of all set up everything up and then told me to put it in its cradle. All good. I have two minor niggles with the process, so thought I may as well post them.
1) The initial name for the receiver when choosing the squeezebox to set up is a bit techy. It was something like Squeezebox16459. New Receiever would have been better. 2) There could have been more information during the connecting the receiver to the server phase. I suspect the receiver was actually doing a firmware upgrade, but during this lengthy process, the controller just displayed Connecting to [SqueezeCenter name]. I'd have had much more confidence in the process as a new user if that had been broken down into a series of steps - Connecting to [SqueezeCenter], Checking for Updates, Upgrading Receiver, Boiling Kettle. etc etc 2) The remote's just finished the firmware upgrade and gone to the home page for the new receiver. All fine, however the new receiver appears to be called Squeezebox 3, which confused me as a) it's not a squeezebox 3 and b) I already have a player called Squeezebox 3. I know this has been pointed out before. Cheers, Max -- max.spicer What do we want? Smoother Analog VU with FLAC! When do we want it?
