Thanks (again) to slim again for the beta duet. I received one in
February (or was it late January) to fiddle with.

First, let me apologise for not finding the time to even open it until
this weekend. Our third kid arrived around the same time as the duet,
so have been a bit busy. Its probably a bit late now to post this
(seeing as it is already released)..

But.. on Friday my SB3 decided to brick itself (came back from
holiday.. and its just blank.. power cycle and nothing happens.. the
optical out glows when the power is attached.. but no ethernet (wired
or wireless) and no display.. multimeter shows power pack outputting
5V. Very sad about this.. I loved my SB3. Any suggestions?

Luckily I had the duet as a replacement.

Installation was a breeze once I'd remembered to put MAC addresses into
my filter list. Seems to be working like a champ (although I miss my
SB3 display and remote).

The newer remote and software seems much better than the early versions
I used.
. Battery life is vastly improved. This makes it much more usable.. I
gave up on the old one because of this.
. Scrolling still seems to have some issues (overshoot, stops and
starts while moving the wheel at a constant rate, no tactile feedback,
still takes bit too long to scroll to the end of my album list --
thirteen wheel revolutions at top speed -- despite the big block
letters showing where I'm up to).
. Progressing through menus is sometimes a little delayed, and the pan
to the new menu is stuttered. (Like when clicking Albums or Artists
from the Library menu).
. Wireless signal strength seems much better.
. No WOL for server is a bit annoying for me.

All in all.. it seems to be working a treat. The improvements from the
early remote are enourmous. Congrats on a fine product. (I also think
SqueezeCenter 7 is a big improvement over the last release).

But I do miss the simplicity of old remote and reading whats playing on
my SB3 from across the room..
