A few of the beta testers experienced a strange patch of "distortion" on
the screens of the final beta test Controllers that were sent out. I
have some more info that may be of interest.

I sent my Controller back to Mickey Gee, who passed it on the the Slim
Devices engineers. Here is what he told me:

> I received word that this unit had the latch for the LCD ZIF connector
> in the unlatched position. This would create undue force applied to
> approximately the middle of the LCD screen, resulting in the LCD screen
> being much closer to its transparent cover than specified. This is
> something new that hasn't been seen before.
> 
> As a result, we have reviewed our factory manufacturing procedure, and
> it appears this step is not on it. We will be adding it.
I then asked him whether it would be OK to post this information on the
forums so that others who have the same problem can try fixing it
themselves. Here is his reply:

> I know I can open up a Controller and push the LCD ZIF socket latch
> closed, so it can't be that hard. However, what I'm suggesting is a
> warranty-voiding activity, so I don't want to go on record making such
> suggestions.

> Nevertheless, I have no objections to beta users and anyone else who
> might not care about their warranty. So, I'm OK with such a posting as
> long as that caveat is added.
So there you have it. If anyone still has a Controller with this fault,
try opening it up and making sure the ZIF socket latch is closed.
