Hi, A very early, and definitely pre-alpha, version of SqueezePlay with audio playback is now available for the adventurous. At the moment no pre-built versions are available you will need to compile from the 7.2 SqueezePlay source. Please don't use this with expensive speakers - yet!
Once compiled you can enable playback by choosing your SqueezeCenter in the TEST_PLAYBACK menu. This is just a temporary UI for testing the playback support. This will create the player instance, and then you can choose your music as normal. The audio playback features for the players (Squeezebox, SqueezePlay, SoftSqueeze and SqueezeSlave) are listed on the wiki at http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php?title=SqueezePlay_Audio_Playback. As you'll see there are still lots of features needed to complete SqueezePlay, but the intention is to support all the features available on Squeezebox. At the moment mp3, flac, wav and aiff playback works, Internet radio should be added this week. A known problem is that the flac playback sometimes skips, I've not worked out why yet. Does it work on the Controller? Well yes it does, but at the moment you'll need to keep it docked to prevent the power save modes from activating. What about a headless mode? This will be available in a future release, at the moment the focus is getting the audio playback support complete. Any help coding or testing will be most welcome.
