Hello,

I'm considering encoding all my local content in the HD-AAC format,
since this format should allow me to "encode once, transcode many"
(i.e. encode a single file from which you can easily - without much
horsepower - retrieve different versions with different quality
depending on bandwidth availability). The format can scale from
lossless (at ratio approx. 2:1) and down to 128 kbps, and is backwards
compatible with standard AAC.

More info here: www.hd-aac.com

I know the format is still not widely adopted (yet?), but do you have
any plans on supporting the format natively sometime in the future?
This way you could easily allow a setting for transcoding to a lower
bit rate if streaming to a "low-bandwidth device" without actually
re-encoding the file.

Best Regards

Squeezar.
