Thanks for that. I've had a go at this but it insists, no matter what I set this variable to, to send output through both soundcards. I've even tried the more standard alsa strings of "hw:<card>,device>".
I've also noticed that squeezeplay crashes at the end of a song. This is 7.4 svn compiled playing flacs so I've reverted to 7.34. However, apon compiling 7.34 I find that the Playback.lua file has no alsaDevicePlayback variable.
