Network throughput of a system can be measured two way packet/sec and max bits/sec.
For a system there is an upper limit for the number of packets/sec that can be processed - irrespective of size. Maximum bits throughput is achieved when these packets are full of data typically file transfer, torrents. Depending on your SC activity, Softsqueeze (because display is controlled from SC) and to a lesser extent Squeezeplay can generate a lot of packets that are not full and so you will get decreased throughput.
