IMHO, It would probably be better to get them involved directly, proposing changes as patches. If you are a committer, you can certainly commit them. Doing it this way has a few benefitsBTW, I anticipate others from my company contributing to JMeter as well. I could act as a conduit to egt there changes in.
1. The list gets exposed to more people contributing to the project.
2. These others get to see how Apache projects work and how to get involved.
3. The patches are out there for people to comment on and discuss before committing.
