Yes, I've been able to use the recording controller in a thread group too. Guess I was just being too specific.
Funny thing it was something running on the same port as the proxy that was causing this. It happens to me all the time I just didn't think to mention it because if that was the problem I thought you would have mentioned that the page did not load in your browser.
