It may be possible to solve your problems on JDK 1.2 and Jmeter 1.8.1, but they are both old releases.
The JMeter nightly builds will not run properly on anything less than 1.4. I would suggest you start by installing the latest release of Java (I use 1.4.2_02). As to JMeter, try using the 1.9.1 release and see if this solves your problem. Apart from anything else, JMeter 1.9.1 has improved functionality over 1.8.1 Check that JMeter 1.9.1 runs OK, i.e. you can create a simple NEW test plan and save and reload it and run it. Then try loading one of the failing test plans - if there are any errors, let us know - there may be a work-round for them (some of the class names may have changed, but there is a simple fix for that).
