OK, I took a whole download of the latest version and it does work as expected. Looks like there have been more than superficial changes in this area.

Unfortunately, this version of the GUI is broken in that it doesnt let me add timers or listeners - the details menu for these simply dont appear. But it does run without errors.

but there was still the same issue. I dont want to take an entire release if I can avoid it.
