This is related to the swing class that is being used for the script window. Interestingly, it doesn't happen on all platforms. I suspect that it could be addressed by simply writing some text at the beginning of the window ... so that the cursor is not positioned at the beginning. We could output the Jmol version number and the Java version number at the beginning. You could experiment with this if you wanted to.
