Where is this capability?  I didn't see a command for generating an image
file.  

Perhaps I could write the code..

The Jmol application is capable of generating .jpg images

Are you saying that people want to download an image from the applet?

I suppose that it might be possible to add this without putting too much
code into the applet ... maybe .png instead of .jpeg

I suggest that you fill out a bug report as a feature request. But don't
expect it to be implemented any time soon.
