Hmmm ... perhaps your perspective has been *tainted* by Chime :-)
When I load up a .pdb/.xyz/.mol that is all that I see ... text.
Now, your web server is specifically configured to treat .pdb/.xyz/.mol
files specially. And you have Chime installed on your browser. Therefore,
when you reference a .xyz file, your browser launches Chime for you. (I
assume).
Since Jmol is an applet, it treats this .cml file just like a
.pdb/.xyz/.mol file.
Within the context of a web page + script, you can 'load' that cml file
and 'animation on' ... just like any other multi-frame file.
Does that make sense?
