trying to solve this problem, I had payed with various associations with PDB e.g.
first I had
Cn3D does nothing (I couldn't open PDB files from within Cn3D either) open gives a select application dialog RasMol starts as expected RasTop there pops something black up, but it shut down as fast as it appears.
associated with PDB than I deleted all but RasMol. Afterwards I recognized that even if I started java -jar Jmol.jar and not java -jar Jmol.jar samples/pdb/3OVO.pdb I had to act 9 times to get past the missing link error. or if I loaded a CIF (which has no association) on the command line Regards, Jan
This problem has been solved now (see below), but in may be interesting
for others and may be, some one could explain it to me.

Jan,
This seems very strange to me ... I can think of no reason why there would be any relationship between RasTop.exe and Jmol.
The only possible thing that I can think of would be filename extension associations. One could make an association between files of type .pdb and Jmol ... or to RasTop.exe
