I did not follow this thread thouroughly, but this deals with the applet, right? If it concerns the application, I would encourage the involved to look at Bioclipse (http://www.bioclipse.net), which is currently actively being developed as a plugin based GUI application to interface a lot of different open source chemoinformatics projects. Plugins do involve a Jmol view *and* a JCAMP-DX viewer!
