Shravan is working with Richard Spinney at Ohio State.

They asked me last fall about jcamp support.

Someone asks about jcamp about once a quarter.

I am not familiar with Robert Lancashire's work.

You folks are aware that I have limited knowledge of what goes on on the
chemistry world.

I believe that there was some limited discussion on jmol-users before
Richard/Shravan began their work.

You are exactly work.

Shravan is working on a completely independent applet that would send
script commands to Jmol.

For that reason it is not integrated into Jmol. It is supposed to use the
same interface that would be available to other applets.

With that said, I don't have any problems with it being part of the Jmol
project, as long as it is a separate entity.

As I said, a significant number of people have asked about it ... and
Chime had some support for jcamp data ... so I assume that it is important
functionality.

> Can we talk about this before going too far with it?

Shravan needs to let us know his status.

I would also like to understand Robert Lancashire's works and status.

I have not looked at the files.

If there are copyrights that are not open source then I am quite concerned.

My understanding with Shravan and Richard was that the work would be
completely open source.

I also understand that they began with an applet that they got from Henry
Rzepa.

But, to date I have not looked at the code.

I did set Shravan up with a project with the Jmol repository so that he
could have a place to check-in.

Nico, I think that you should wait until we get some feedback from Shravan.
