Jmol developers,

Consider

  Jmol -g500x500

The Jmol application -g option sets the overall window width and height
but not the actual Jmol width and height. In this case the actual
working "frame" height will be considerably smaller than the width. It
seems to me there is a problem here. I'd like, for example, to set the
exact inner frame width and height so that if I use the "write JPG"
command I get a JPG with a selected width and height.

1) Is this intended?

2) Wouldn't it be better to have an option to set the inner width and
height?

3) Can I depend that from platform to platform the overall width is 12
more than the inner frame width and the overall height is 116 more than
the inner frame height (which is true on my PC), or is that not
dependable? If I can, then I can just set up an additional option -G
instead of -g that sets the window size from the frame size instead of
the other way around.

4) Any objections to setting the Jmol application default window size
such that a square inner frame 500x500 is used (and we don't have to
fiddle with "set zoomLarge off")?

5) Suggestions?

Bob
