Miguel, you did a great job. > Folks, > > Forgive me in advance, but ask some questions and blow off a little steam > ... and because you did a good work the Jmol playground comes into interest of a lot more people and we all know a little part of the whole. (But we definitively need more, then may be we need a more effective question, wish, answer mechanism, because at the moment it takes to much of my time and surely much to much of yours) > > > Is it more important than > - CONECT record support? > - ssbond stuff? > - nucleotide base stuff? > - hydrogen bond stuff? > - multiple models? > - animations? > - ... > > I honestly have no idea. to my opinion, but I'm not a product manager, too: 1. atom primitives (or is it easy to add them to the atom object and scripting language if all is done?) 2. insertion code (because you cant read data without knowing about) 3. CONECT (this should be easy to integrate in the existing bond detection loop) 4. the sets nucleic and protein should result in the desired selection (I think this is at least partly done?) 5. hydrogen bonding is important for structure determination (5b. if you are at bonding, why not making SS-bonds too) 6. multiple models, according to MODEL record are necessary to deal with NMR structures 7. cartoon 8. multiple molecules 9. symmetry (to escape the asymmetric unit) ... animation > > > Listen, I really want and *need* input from the user community ... > - I have taken Jmol-as-Chime-replacement about as far as I can on my own > - there is no product specification > (the things that are completed are the things that I could > understand in the RasMol v2.6 documentation) 7 don'7 say no7hing > > - there is no product manager > - I am not a chemist > - I am not familiar with the application space > - I have never written a Chime script > - nobody is paying me any money > - I am doing this for fun :-) > - I would *love* to have someone maintain the priority list for me > > I will do my best to try to keep making forward progress. ops, after reading all the - stuff, fear caught me, but reading this, makes me happy again.
