Philip, Where were you when I needed you?! :-)
I could have *sworn* that *somebody* was running OK on Panther, but I couldn't remember who it was. Many people are having trouble on Panther with the Jmol application. Several people have reported that the icon appears in the dock, but that the window never appears. Henry tested it using the 1.4.2 pre-release Java and it didn't work with it either. I have filed a bug report with Apple.
