I am not sure I agree with your analysis.  I have written my page using standard 
javascript -- at least as standard as a novice javascripter could do it.   It crashes. 
 The crash occurs at the point that I try to reload an applet window using a script.  
Even 'zap' kills it.

and select any of the items from the menu that use jmol.
