I just tried to implement this. Unfortunately, Apple has (yet another) bug in their mouse event handling. I have submitted a bug report to Apple. > I think that this would be much better than the current combination > involving a double-click. But in general, most applications are not trying to implement six (ten?) degrees of freedom with a single button mouse :-) > (It's > unfortunate that chime uses a control-right mouse combination as the > control key is generally used on a one-button mouse instead of the > right button - doesn't java map it that way?). Apple *tries* to make CTL_LEFT be a popupTrigger ... Sun also made some feeble attempts ... both failed miserably. The only way to get this to work is for individual applications to implement this themselves. > I suppose there might be slight conflict with the use of the control > key to bring up the menus (Chime seems to do this just by a mouse > press), in which case would alt-drag be an alternative? ALT_LEFT drag is mapped to MIDDLE_DRAG (per Sun's human interface guidelines for dealing with single button mice). And MIDDLE_DRAG is mapped to zoom functionality. So, this is not available.
