Miguel, what difference does it make?
Couldn't name=load just be deprecated as unnecessary?
I agree with Henry unless somehow dropping this code has obvious performance enhancements.
Couldn't it be made that "load" is optional, and script value="load ...." works as well? (Maybe that's the way it is now.)
If this is just a "clean the code" operation, then I suggest not alienating people more than we need to.
It's true that some of Henry's pages wouldn't work with certain machines (even now) but that's a problem he can address at his own leisure.

If by this you mean that pages with the old style <params> will no longer work with Jmol, this would be complete disaster. We have submitted supporting information to journals. Users can download this and replace the Jmol there with a more recent version. If this causes those pages to break, this would be highly unfortunate.
So, please please do not not remove the load name in particular!
That is unfortunate.
I realize that it is late in the 'beta' and that people have been trying to do real work. I was hoping to make this change before the official v10 release, to prevent it from spreading.

The packages that they download will still work.
Q: If they subsequently download the latest version, don't they take responsibility to bring their stuff up to date?
I believe that dropping support for 'load' as an applet param is the right thing to do.
Q: When do you propose would be a good time to drop it?
