OK, that's what it is. I had it backward. Thanks, Bill. (My report was really of Bill's activity, not my own.)
So the point is, only the first-opened JmolApplet.jar gets the control input?
Bill, please do the following:
a) Open http://www.stolaf.edu/people/hansonr/jmol/docs/examples/moveto_strange.htm
b) Open in another window, so you can see both at the same time, http://www.stolaf.edu/people/hansonr/jmol/applet/mscalc/moveto_strange.htm
c) By any chance do the controls on the SECOND page send messages to the applet on the FIRST page?
I remember seeing this at one time on a PC. I can't find my posting now, and I don't know if it was to jmol-developers or jmol-users. A sign of aging, I suppose. Does anyone else recall when I showed that controls to one applet on one page were activating the applet on another page? Maybe this is related in some way to that.

Bob & Miguel,
My nutshell view of the situation is slightly different, all the following being observed in Safari on Mac OS 10.3.9
a) A page is opened and loads JmolApplet.jar from directory A. The applet works.
b) Another page is opened and loads a DIFFERENT JmolApplet.jar from directory B. The applet loads, is seen, but controls don't function.
c) The first page is returned to and works fine.
d) If the order of loading is reversed for a freshly activated Safari, the same behavior occurs.
My initial observation is that Firefox behaves in a similar fashion to Netscape 7.2, in that both applets function as expected, but unlike Netscape, Firefox freezes when one attempts to return to the initial page.a) A page is opened and loads JmolApplet.jar from directory A. b) Another page is opened and loads a DIFFERENT JmolApplet.jar from directory B. c) The first page is returned to.
Q: Is this only a Safari issue, or does it occur on Firefox as well?
