Hi, I looked shortly at version 10.00.18 and have a few comments:
1) The side-by-side stereo view looks ok for me. In contrast to Miguels statement that 'stereo on' defaults to 'stereo -5' (cross-eyed) it looks like the default is 'stereo 5' (side-by-side). I like this default because 'side-by-side' is what works for me without any stereo viewer and with a mirror stereo viewer.
2) The 'set ribbonedge on' switch unfortunately has no effect, although it doesn't produces an error message. I hope this gets fixed!
3) The 'surface' rendering contains a large number of blue and red dots, which don't change their size if the zoom-factor is changed. The color of the dots doesn't change with the color of the surface. Besides there are also a lot of starnge green structures visible. In version 10.00.13 the surface looked ok in most cases I tried, although jmol/java hung up often, especially if 'cartoon' was switched on also.
4) For my current applications I don't see any difference or any problems with the missing 'clear' before loading a new structure.

Jmol prerelease version 10.00.18 is now available for download from sourceforge: http://www.jmol.org/files This is a prerelease version that includes new and experimental features. Please assist in testing the functionality of these new features. .cube file isosurfaces ---------------------- Files in the Gaussian .cube format are now supported. atoms are loaded using the normal 'load' command. isosurfaces are created using the new 'isosurface' command. isosurface pos05 0.05 "path/to/myfile.cube" color isosurface translucent isosurface neg05 -0.05 "path/to/myfile.cube" color isosurface translucent isosurface pos02 0.02 mesh nofill "path/to/myfile.cube" isosurface neg02 0.02 mesh nofill "path/to/myfile.cube" Stereo Viewing | Stereo Viewing ---------------|---------------- Jmol now includes an initial implementation of stereo viewing. stereo on|off|degrees for cross-eyed viewing the degrees of rotation need to be negative ... because the right image goes through a negative negative rotation for display. I would appreciate if those of you with stereo viewing experience could comment on the implementaton. I believe that this is a step towards supporting geo-wall and other stereographic systems. minor pmesh enhancements ------------------------ as with isosurface, pmesh now supports the following options dots|nodots, mesh|nomesh, fill|nofill no clearing of screen --------------------- This version does not clear the screen when a new molecular model is loaded. This was implemented in direct response to a request from someone. Please let me know if this caues any problems with existing jmol web applications. I am sure that there are other things in there that I have forgotten. Enjoy!
